Worked well, but system lasted ~18 months.
Since we bought system thru staples instead of direct, they cant help us. Why are they selling thru a third party if they dont want you to buy it from one?
I bought this unit in August 2013 and it was working great until April of this year I sent the unit back as it was freezing and it could not play back. I got a replacement unit as i was still under waranty and now the unit is detecting no hard drive. I expressed my disatisfaction to CWD. It is going back to them this week. I am a little uneased knowing that i bought a security system to protect my house and now it's in more for repair than doing what is suppose to do and that is watching my house.
Easy to install and works great. Very pleased with the system and the price wasn't bad
Complicated: NOT a plug and play!
It's taken me some time to write this review as I have struggled with getting this system set up. I don't think it was all my ignorance either. I always read the manual ahead of time, and didn't see one in the box, just a few pages of ads, and then found the disk I had to get a computer to open it to get the manual. Well once opened, it was so very unclear, and omitted little important points that it took months of the boxes sitting around. I had been robbed and the TV was gone, so to instruct me to plug yellow jacks into a picture...of what - a TV? No other options were mentioned, & pictures were not labeled. I was going to use a computer monitor, but no cords were helpful to know what went where. I wrote emails to the CSR, and had to wait 3-4 days before I would get a response. Installation was not that easy. I had to climb ladders, up and down, run into house up and down 2 flights of stairs fussing with cords drilling holes through the house and floors to get the DVR in a secure hidden place. As I said I was robbed of everything and while the security cameras are AFTER THE FACT I now know what they look for and where [they went through everything! They know the color of my underwear now! and have been back 5 times! ugh! So you can see my frustration levels were high already!] Once day a Tech called me, I don't usually sit by the phone so I was surprised but had to drop everything to focus on his working to set this up. I would have never known ANY of the things he walked through for set up of the DVR & Phone, if he didn't call! There was nothing to tell me about the Menu details and what sections controlled what. The vocabulary used in the manual was different then once in the Menu items as well. I am still having issues that are "noted in my file" but concern me. I have only gotten 2 cameras up so far, and these cameras are clear, but width is limited. I have 2 more to set up, and can purchase 4 more, but its very time consuming in 90+ degree weather. While the CSR people have been nice and friendly, one CSR lady called after the Tech, and she admitted she couldn't figure it out things either, until after she was trained to work with the equipment. I suggested a rewritten better user friendly manual, simple words and pictures that match not leaving anything out, as the DVR has a lot of options to build onto if you were a business, parking lot, or something. But for a non-tech, home person to think this is "Plug and Play" - that is a big misrepresentation. If you can't hire someone with prior knowledge BE PREPARED TO work through frustrations, and lots of waiting for Techs to call or trying to get through their "always busy long wait" phone lines! RE: Hard Equipment: Camera's do their job when focused in right places, great night and day visual. I like that I can check my android frequently to see what's going on. So far the email setting must be too long of a delay, as I am not getting any notices when I know something is moving. Guess I have to remember where he set that. Three times now the DVR has changed the view on its own...can't figure out why, and CSR knows it, but they said the DVR may have a problem...I will have to walk this out and see how they will handle it. The last thing I need at the same time is a poor or a failure security system and a 6th robbery visit! UGH! But you can see I am motivated trying to get this working. I am thankful when I finally get the help, once I get it - believe me, but it has taken nearly 6 months to get this far. I just want to be real honest about my experience, and they know it already too!
I am very pleased with the features that the DVR offers and the 600TVL and 800 TVL cameras produce excellent video quality
I have owned this for a little over a month. It Had 4 dome cams and 500gb hd. this system was a piece of cake to set up. I only needed to talk to support concerning an addressing issue with my smart phone which was resolved in a minute. The support was excellent. You won't be disappointed with these cameras. this system is very plug and play.
Great product, and execllent supporrt
I had an older Svat DVR for several years and up graded to the new Defender 21062 so I would be able to view my cameras on my iphone and ipad. I ran into trouble setting them up because of my internet provider is a wireless provided for people that live out where there are no DSL cable or phone service. I spoke with two of Defenders servicer techs. Michel, and Danialla. at several different times. You could not ask for any better service than this two people provided. They both have excellent knowledge of the produce and were very pleasant to talk to on the phone. Thank You again Michel & Danialla. Dave
