So far this thing has been great, easy to install. Picture looks great.
I am a very Senior Citizen and sometimes what is sold as "plug and play" is really, contact the Grandchildren for help. The Phoenix M22C was simpler to set up than my TV Set. When they say "Plug and Play," they mean it. I had the system up and running in a matter of minutes. Since the cameras were already paired, I was able to go outside with the camera while my wife watched the monitor to ensure the best placement. We had the entire installation done in less than an hour and finishing the settings took about another 15 minutes. I have adjusted the sensitivity on both cameras since I installed them and they are both recording everything in great detail. When I see some of the Surveillance Video on TV news shows I am amazed at the quality from my $200. System. You can't go wrong with choosing this system for your home.
I bought this system on line thru the Home Depot site and very satisfied with it. Great picture quality and motion sensing picks up at a very good distance and with the alert set it warns me ahead of time. Good product for the price. I have a relative that liked it as well and they have also bought one
I had been looking at all kinds of security cameras for years. We live in the country, and the design of our house makes it hard to see who is coming down the driveway or walking up to the front door.
I decided to keep it simple after having some bad experiences with wifi "smart" devices for our home. They are cool when they work, but something is always going wrong. The lights in our living room, for example, are useless right now because they can't find their "bridge" on the wifi network. And if the power goes off in the middle of the night, they come on full bright and stay that way until we find an iPad or phone to turn them off. This is progress?
The PHOENIXM2, by contrast, is wonderfully simple. Just plug everything in, turn it on, and it works. The display is small and the picture quality not fabulous, but it's adequate for our application. The base's button labels are very hard to read, but I figure I'll have them memorized in no time anyway. Menus are straightforward and easy to navigate with the joystick. The motion detectors seem to work very well, and I haven't noticed any false alarms from squirrels or bugs. We're looking forward to having an audible alert when company gets here. I don't plan on using the recording function, but I'll stick the SD card in there just in case we do. We tested the intercom function and it seemed to work well, but I doubt we'll use that either.
I was wondering how it would display the images from both cameras at once. Turns out it simply distorts them, squeezing them horizontally to get both on the screen side-by-side without cropping. Perfect.
After initially clamping the cameras to a stepladder to test positions, I now have them mounted permanently under the eaves. Power is still via extension cords, so one of these days I'll have to get in the attic and fish some wires. But this will be a breeze compared to running the video cables that a hardwired system would have required.
One setup tip: Be sure to select your time zone before setting the time of day. I set the clock first, and when I changed the time zone from the default Eastern to Central, it was off by an hour.
Bottom line: Based on a few days of use, I'd say if you want a decent, bare-bones wireless system, grab this one.
Easy to install and set up. Clear images and cool audio connection.
this system was easy to set up, it really is plug and play.has many features to fit your needs.
This system worked great out of the box. A power adapter failed after 4 months and Darrielle (their customer service) did everything possible to get me back up and running quickly. Wish they had other camera models to use with the system that were totally wireless.
This system is so easy to install and use! The videos are incredibly high quality! By using an SD card reader, I can easily save the videos to my computer.
Bought this after trying out some cloud version cameras and always needing internet. Then realized I dont need that fancy stuff and the pain of setup and support. This was out of the box and setup for testing in under 10 minutes. While I haven't mounted the camera yet, I just set them outside on the ground to test for a few hours. So easy to setup motion detection, recording, etc compared to the Internet based models that you can access from the web or your phone. For the many that dont need or want those options, this system is for you.
Got the 2 camera's last week from amazon. So easy to set up. Have one over my Garage and the other one in my back yard. No problem with the signal. One in backyard the signal goes through 3 walls and the one at the garage goes through 2 walls to the receiver. I order one more for my daughter in Michigan.
Thanks defender for making my life a little more safer.
works perfect so far. took about 10 minutes to set up. now have to learn all options
I purchased this little Defender system to replace my very unreliable WIFI cameras. They only detected motion part of the time and were extremely slow to record the action. This Defender has it all and does it all!! I'm an 80 year old female and it was so simple to install - just plug it in, mount the cameras where you want them and you're done! I can easily unplug the monitor and carry it to the bedroom at night with out having to reset anything - just turn it back on. The night vision is sharp and clear as are the daylight color images.
There are a few cons though. First thing I looked for was a manual or an easy setup guide. There was none. I eventually did find the on-line user manual. When I was putting the screws in the holder for the camera, the head broke off one of the screws. Never, ever had that happen before. Lastly, the gray text that's above the buttons is extremely difficult to read. I made a strip with the names and taped them above the buttons.
Customer Service is great! I sent an email with a few questions and Melissa C. was very helpful and promptly answered my concerns. Overall, I am happy with my purchase.
Just received my camera system. Only took me ten minutes to set up. So far very pleased with system.
I was looking to purchase an outside security camera system for our home and when I compared a wired system vs a wireless system I decided to purchase a wireless system. The Defender Phoenix M22C is a great wireless two camera security system, it is realy a plug and play. I also purchased a third camera and paired them all together.
