We anticipated set up to be challenging for us as we are older and not tech-savvy; however it was soooo easy. Thank you for making set-up a breeze:)
I bought the 8 HD Camera package to replace an older model. I was amazed at the difference in the HD cameras. While I did expect somewhat of a better picture, the HD picture quality/clarity was remarkable. And, the new cameras have a wider viewing area and recorder longer distances. So, I am getting a larger viewing area form the same number of cameras. And, setup, and getting the cameras online and on my smartphone, was a breeze.
Bought this system because I needed the extra distance for night time use. Everything worked just fine on initial hookup. Great picture quality, both day and night. I especially like the display on the cell phone.
One and later two of the cameras would freeze repeatedly leaving the house unprotected for weeks while we were traveling . One of the replacement cameras started having the same issue. Communicating with costumer service was futile, they don't seem technically trained.
Finally we gave up after weeks of frustration.
I installed all 8 cameras and had the system up and running in less than a day, that was 6 weeks ago and it's run with out a glitch ever since. Cameras are clear night and day and the system is easy to operate, I like the zoom and the variable speeds searching the recorded history.
I had over bought some extra items like cords, couplers, etc. I had no problem returning them for a refund, Suzanne in customer service handled everything for me and always responded to my emails within 24hrs, very nice, professional person.
i have had system for 2 weeks with no issues, had j & j media installation to install did a great job.
The Defender camera systems been running over two months now the and I'm pleased with the unit. The setup was fairly easy. The day time video is real good the nighttime is good inside but the camera out side are fair due to the distance of objects.
I have been telling everyone i know how happy i am with the cameras and system. once the wires are ran between cameras and recorder it was very easy to set up.
I have bought two sets of these now. First one for home, second one for the church I work at. These are easy to install and have a professional appearance. Be sure that if you need additional lengths of cable, you buy them from Defender. My first installation, I bought an HD cable from Wal-Mart, and that camera has an obvious distortment than the others.
The reason I don't give these a 5 star is I think the cameras should have the ability to Zoom, even if it was only done once during installation. These cameras have such a wide angle ability, that you lose some detailing from any reasonable distance. The wide angle works perfect for putting in the corner of a room and seeing everything in that room, but when you use them outside, say to point to your driveway, after about 50 feet, it's hard to get details and be harder to read a license plate. Still, for the price, I would but them again, and have!
I purchased this system to replace an 8 camera standard definition Defender system purchased about 5 years ago. I am very impressed with the advances and easy of setup as it refers to networking. Scanning the QR code makes it a snap. The picture quality is definitely a step up and the interface is very familiar.
The cameras are very easy to install and good for inside home security. The motion sensor is very sensible to any movement which is good.
I have owned many systems over the years and this one looks better than the others. As for set up it is much easier than the others.
As a whole, I am very pleased with the system. First, the DVR system works great and the UI is very intuitive. Moreover, the mobile AP works perfectly and it even allows playback from it. Second, the cameras themselves definitely feel IP66 (which means they are fully protected from dust and water) and the mounting base makes it very simple to install.
Lastly, the only tip I would STRONGLY recommend is to plan the installation and take your time with it. I spent weeks planning where the best locations would be and took my time with each camera. Make sure you preview angles and take a look at what it would take to run cables.
Lastly: the cameras only have a limited viewing angle. So it may be inverted to get the side you want but that didn't bother me.
We have had trouble with things missing out of our yard. Since I have installed system, nothing has been happening here. I feel confident that if it should, I would be able to help identify the thief and share my footage to prosecute. It had given me a new feeling of safety.
